This years e-commerce conference in Geneva attracted over 50 exhibitors and 70 speakers to discuss developments, innovation and best practice for online commercial activities. Over 2000 people attended the daylong event on the 27th May, attracted by a range of speakers presenting over three key themes: e-commerce, e-marketing and logistics. Fabrice Perrin, Engagement Manager for the Branding and Interactive Marketing department at blue-infinity, was invited to present a session on current and future trends affecting e-commerce and e-business.
Fabrices presentation focused on how innovation has paved the way for companies to engage with their stakeholders online, and how it is becoming more of a necessity than a choice for organisations to interact openly with their customers online.
Businesses demonstrating innovative e-commerce concepts were highlighted to provide inspiration to those in the room, and to show how web 2.0 technologies have allowed companies to discover and exploit new methods of e-marketing.
Fabrice explained that communication with customers and other stakeholders needs to be a major concern for companies focused on e-business. He suggested that it is vital for organisations to actively interact with their audience, rather than just expect feedback passively from online communities.
A powerful video was shown to demonstrate the growth of social media, and the implications it will have in the near future for both individuals and organisations. From this, the audience was advised on ways to adapt to and exploit these social and technological changes through engagement. The presentation was wrapped up with how to also do this personally, as true to the moral of the session, its not just about the organisation in todays world of e-commerce.
The presentation to a packed out auditorium was very well received, with insightful questions being raised by members of the audience. We look forward already to next years event!
