Federico Vita has been with blue-infinity for five years now, currently managing an IT service desk. My work involves two main areas – end user support and asset management. I guess you could say that my role is to ensure the maximum level of satisfaction of our client users, whilst improving our processes and adherence to policies. It’s a very visible role.
My morning is quite unpredictable at times. It varies from high demand situations to unexpected issues, of which we all need to respond timely. I guess with forty consultants to oversee, there are always unplanned circumstances to deal with – in the fastest possible time of course. My group takes responsibility for supporting a variety of users on a wide range of IT support requests, across our clients’ companies, from headquarters to factories and from remote users to VIPs.
My day can vary a lot. Typically I check the workload status from the previous day, such as incoming support requests and escalations. We have to ensure a healthy team performance so my daily duties are based on this. For me it’s all about the team. Obviously, being in a client-facing role means it’s crucial to maintain positive group spirit at all times. It’s also paramount for us to completely understand our customers and their specific environments in order to serve their needs better.
In parallel to our support work, I have to report and follow up with clients and my superiors at blue-infinity on things such as financials, planning and administrative items.
We hold various team events at blue-infinity which allow us to wind down and share some social time together, such as go-karting, where I am usually pretty fast ! At home and with friends, I really enjoy cooking (pictured). I prepare Italian specialties such as pasta dishes with truffles and arancini. This passion comes from my grandmother – she’s a master in the kitchen! To balance the cooking, I follow football, which I used to play, and I am a big Juventus fan. I am an equally keen skier, too. Most years I travel to Spain – and not to forget Italy, my native country.
This is the longest I’ve been with an employer. For a start, blue-infinity gives me freedom; as long as expectations are met, I have a lot of autonomy. I have also undergone formal training in ITIL v3 Service Operations and Service Transition. I feel very much a part of this company, having been given the opportunity to grow and develop with them, from consultant to my current position.
