Jorge Conceiçao is a keen car enthusiast, particularly the Jaguar models. With the same drive behind his passion, he runs our Portugal operations. "I’ve been with blue-infinity since late 2014, managing our Nearshore operations in Portugal. We call it Quality-Shore because that makes all the difference on the buzzword NS.
My work involves all main areas related to a brand new operation. Firstly, we had to setup all related to our brand new offices; finding it, design the space, select and order all the materials, taking care of all the infrastructure, selecting and engage the suppliers, follow up the building works, as well as the legal and fiscal parts.
Once settled, I made a few partnerships with companies/services around the area, such as banks, pharmacy, gym, restaurants which are beneficial for our employees.
We started with three consultants in October 2014 and now we are 20. We had to find the right people for the right position, interview them, onboard them, welcome and engage, ordering their work material, taking care of all administrative matters and involve the crucial departments that an operation like this needs ( HR, Legal, Finance, support, marketing).
I embraced all tasks and in conclusion … it’s a 'super'-management role!
My day starts at 7:00 and having my breakfast and reading the morning newspapers, I’m also replying/reading some e-mails. Then awaits me a trip to the office that takes about 20 minutes.
My team takes responsibility for some projects right now, with airlines, humanitarian, tobacco and Track & Trace and they all arrive early at our office.
We are a very solid and supportive team. Mixture of young guys and some more senior and experienced ones but everyone with great spirit. It’s very important because, on the opposite of some operations, we are all day working with each other in the same office.
For me it’s all about people. Obviously, in this role, it’s crucial that I get the work done with swiss-quality. Sometimes we have to go a step-back to move two ahead. We are very focused on objectives but sometimes we have to have an escape and there enters the babyfoot table. Yes we also have one, like at b-i Geneva!"
