Meet our people: Ansel, developer.

Meet the diverse people at blue-infinity that help make us distinctive. Ansel is a release manager for large projects. He helps decide how programs should be deployed, and how they are visualised by clients.

As a developer, Ansel validates software development and influences the tools used for those developments within his team.

Ansel is a superb advocate for sharing ideas and motivating others. "I like to be a kind of 'glue' in the team - someone who can regroup ideas and help establish how best to build something." In his role as senior developer, Ansel enjoys Mobile Applications, PHPsites, and above all building RESTful APIs in Java and one page apps with AngularJS.

"Frameworks like AngularJS allow for a much friendlier UX, quicker page loading, and a more native feeling closer to the original design. They can also save on bandwidth and server computation, as part of the application logic ends up on the client side."

Ansel’s expertise as a developer stems from his curiosity for development environments. He also enjoys science, space and regularly reads Hacker News. Anything he picks up in his learning is useful for sharing internally. Ansel uses an internal blue-infinity chat service for sharing these ideas.

Ansel mentions "blue-infinity has provided me a great opportunity to work in different roles for many major projects. Plus, our Agile and Scrum approach makes sure everyone can communicate and share their thoughts.”

One of the challenges as a developer is to align client needs with a range of possible delivery options. Because there is more than one way to approach a project, it is how we provide an optimised solution in response to client demands that brings the best short and long term solution.

“These kinds of situations help push the boundaries. What will be the way forward? The implementation approach can affect the whole team long term, so we always need to define our vision and process carefully from the start.”

Ansel has lead the development for major projects since joining in 2014. Critically, he helped implement an AngularJS application hosted on a Salesforce platform at a major FMCG client, defining the processes and tools to be used, and installation of Stash and Bamboo servers which are now a go-to tool for all projects. "Thus far, I have been involved in HTML integration, DevOps, had roles as a Release Manager, Tech Lead, and more."
